Abdominoplasty is a surgical operation to remove excess skin and fatty tissue from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten muscles of the abdominal wall. This type of surgery is most-commonly desired after pregnancy, excessive weight loss, massive loss of weight after bariatric surgery, or for weakened abdominal wall muscle which need repair.

Abdominoplasty is not a surgical procedure to loose weight, but a procedure to shape your tummy and remove excess skin.

There are a variety of different techniques of Abdominoplasty

All these are variants of abdominoplasty, which is chosen as per patient’s abdominal anatomy and desired result.

We commonly combine Liposuction with abdominoplasty, where in we do liposuction better we take any skin incision, to remove excess fat and give a better contour. Liposuction is also done in the adjoining hips/flanks/love handles if necessary

We tailor & customize each patient’s surgical plan after through examination of the patient and discuss in-depth of the expected outcomes and advantages and disadvantages of each plan.

Post-surgery recovery period –

Patients are usually discharged from the hospital after 2-3 days on routine medications and stepwise instructions of resuming back work . Most are advised to wear tailored compression garments which provides the final post surgery reshaping of the skin.

Patients can gradually return to work after about 10-14 days of Surgery. They are advised to avoid any strenuous activity (eg. Gym) and overexertion during this time.

Who is an ideal patient ?

Abdominoplasty is not the surgery to loose weight. Ideally, it is suited for patients who are mild-moderately overweight and have excess skin with weak contour of the abdomen including weak abdominal muscles.

Patients own expectations, desire and motivation plays an important role in achieving the final results of Abdominoplasty
