Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia surgery is one of the most common surgery performed in males.

It is a condition in which excessive breast tissue develops in males. The causes of Gynecomastia are multiple. The most common however is Idiopathic, where by there is no specific cause to it and it is part of generalized weight gain by the patient. It is always very important to rule out other causes of Gynecomastia before performing surgery, because if it is due to an underlying cause (Secondary Gynecomastia), treatment of the underlying cause precedes the surgery.

Gynaecomastia can be roughly classified as Mild, Moderate & Severe with/without Skin excess depending upon the breast tissue and skin redundancy. It is based on this, that the right procedure is chosen for Gynaecomastia

In this technique, cut is made on the inferior border of the areola and the breast fatty & glandular tissue is directly excised (removed). This technique is reserved for moderate to severe cases which need an additional excision of the gland after Liposuction. Commonly it is combined with Liposuction to remove the breast glandular tissue.
